Equality and Accessibility
At Glascote Academy we welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations in relation to race, disability, sex (gender), age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy, maternity and gender reassignment. Furthermore, we welcome our duty under the Education and Inspectors Act 2006 to promote community cohesion and recognise that these duties reflect International Human Rights standards as expressed in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UN Convention on the Rights of the People with Disabilities, and the Human Rights Act 1998.
Within the overall framework of our Academy Improvement Plan, we formulate specific and measurable objectives which is turn aim to support equality for all. These objectives are kept under regular review and progress reported on termly.
Our Objectives for this year are:
- Continue to identify and support vulnerable learners, understand their needs, targeting provision to meet these through ‘scaffolding up’ and adaptive pedagogy.
- Enhance provision by ensuring that additional funding is used effectively to help disadvantaged pupils and those who have special educational needs to make at least expected progress.
- Plan activities which challenge and motivate pupils irrespective of aptitude.
- Secure the effectiveness of leadership and management through monitoring the quality of teaching and progress of learners.
